Shipping Guidelines
ArtSuppliesOnline.com ships to the USA Only
ArtSuppliesOnline.com utilizes USPS & UPS for standard shipments, and has freight carriers available for oversized items. All US-domestic orders are shipped 'Standard', and the customer is able to choose their preferred carrier and speed of shipment on the Secured Checkout process. Different shipping methods from USPS and UPS are available in the Secured Checkout based on the products, weight, dimensional size and destination. If certain products in a shopping cart, based on weights or measures of certain products, do not qualify for a specific service, it will not show up as available. Please see below the available shipping methods and services offered:
USPS First-Class Mail Parcel
Delivery confirmation / tracking is available on most shipments. Saturday delivery is standard. No hazardous products allowed.
USPS Priority Mail Regional Rate
Shipping rates based on zip code for 'regional' destinations. Delivery confirmation / tracking included. Saturday delivery is standard. Limited box sizes and weight restrictions. No hazardous products allowed.
USPS Priority Mail
Ship up to 70-pounds weight with quick delivery speeds to all US-domestic locations. Delivery confirmation / tracking included. Saturday delivery is standard. No hazardous products allowed.
USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate
Priority Mail standards, with a Flat Rate prices. Best option for heavy items that fit in average-size boxes (think clay). Ship up to 70-pounds weight with quick delivery speeds to all US-domestic locations. Delivery confirmation / tracking included. Saturday delivery is standard. No hazardous products allowed.
UPS Ground
Guaranteed day-definite delivery for commercial and residential shipments with tracking in one to five days to most addresses in the US 50 states and Puerto Rico. Price determined by package size, weight, and distance (destination). Not available to PO boxes, APO's, FPO's, and DPO's. Hazardous products are allowed.
UPS 3 Day Select
Guaranteed delivery by the third business day, to the 48 contiguous states (excludes Alaska & Hawaii). Best for less time-sensitive deliveries; includes delivery confirmation and proof of delivery. No pressurized (aerosol), hazardous / flammable items allowed; not available to PO boxes, APO's, FPO's, and DPO's.
UPS 2nd Day Air
Guaranteed delivery by the second business day to all 50 US states and Puerto Rico, with some limitations in Alaska and Hawaii. Ideal for items that do not require overnight delivery. Weekday delivery times standard. No pressurized (aerosol), hazardous / flammable items allowed; not available to PO boxes, APO's, FPO's, and DPO's.
UPS Next Day Air Saver
Guaranteed delivery by next business day (by 3pm-4:30pm) to the 48 contiguous states and limited addresses in Alaska & Hawaii. No pressurized (aerosol), hazardous / flammable items allowed; not available to PO boxes, APO's, FPO's, and DPO's.
UPS Next Day Air
Guaranteed delivery by next business day (by 10:30am, 12:00 Noon, or end of day, depending on destination) to all 50 US states and Puerto Rico, with some limitations in Alaska and Hawaii. No pressurized (aerosol), hazardous / flammable items allowed; not available to PO boxes, APO's, FPO's, and DPO's.
UPS Next Day Air Early AM
Guaranteed delivery by next business day (by 8am to major cities, by 10am to most cities, and 11:30am to additional locations) to the 48 contiguous states. No pressurized (aerosol), hazardous / flammable items allowed; not available to PO boxes, APO's, FPO's, and DPO's.
Important info for orders with Expedited Shipping Requirements:
Orders requesting UPS Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air, and 3rd Day Select are not guaranteed to ship the same day as they are placed. Every effort will be made to ship your order the same day; however there may be limitations as follows:
Ordered items are Special Order, Drop-Ship, Backordered, or Quantity only partially available;
The Order is placed after 12:00 PM Central Time, or on Saturday / Sunday;
Final payment can't be processed due to problems arising from Credit Card Processing;
Incorrect customer shipping or billing information submitted;
Oversized Freight Charges (if items are oversized) requires customer authorization.
Our Customer Service team may try to contact you the day of your order (weekends and weekdays after 5PM Central Time excluded) if any of these limitations apply. However, due to the numerous expedited requests we receive, we respectfully ask you to call or email us if you need to verify that your order will ship the same day.
Alaska and Hawaii
Due to the fact that you are not located in the Continental USA, your Order requires a Freight Quote be sent to you based on your location and your items selected. We ship most smaller shipments (up to 10 pounds) via US Priority Mail. Oversize items and heavier shipments require us to ship via UPS, and can be quite costly ($25-$50 and up). We will notify you shortly of your freight charges and wait for your authorization prior to any shipment!
Shipping Lead Times
If your order contains only STOCK ITEM items it will usually ship within 2-5 days. Any back-ordered Items will ship when they come back into stock at ASO. Your credit card will be billed for all items and applicable shipping charges now.

No shipments are sent on Saturday or Sundays.
Stock Item Items
If your order contains only STOCK ITEM items it will usually ship within 2-5 Days. Any back-ordered items will ship when they come back into stock at ASO. Your credit card will be billed for all items and applicable shipping charges now.
Special Order Items
Special Order Items are not stocked in our own Minneapolis warehouse. ASO orders these items in from the various manufacturers and distributors with most all or them requiring us to meet minimum order requirements, and many having slower processing and shipping lead times. It usually takes 10 to 21 days (not guaranteed) from the time you place your order for you to receive it (however many items do come in faster)

Drop Ship Items
Drop Ship Items Usually ship from manufacturer or distributor warehouses directly, and are not stocked in the ArtSuppliesOnline warehouse in Minneapolis. These items usually ship within 1-5 business days, but may take longer. Our Backorder Policy
The ArtSuppliesOnline (ASO) Backorder Policy is based on whether the items you have ordered are designated as "Stock Item" or "Special Order"
While we strive very hard to maintain adequate stock levels of our "Stock Item" items and usually fulfill 90% or more of all orders designated as such, but we do run out or low from time to time. This is especially true of seasonal products or Promotional items. Should the situation arise where we have only a partial quantity available for a "Stock Item" item(s) we will ship you what is available and backorder the remaining quantity. If the item is completely out of stock you will be notified within 24 hours after your order is placed.
In general ASO will automatically backorder products that we think we can obtain within 30 days and send them immediately when back in. If the 30 day window can't be met we will cancel the backordered items. an in addition we will not backorder products if the total value is less than $5. If the back-ordered item(s) will take longer than 30 days or cost under $5 we will email you a refund notice and issue a refund to the credit card you provided.
All back-ordered items we retain will remain on back-order with ASO unless we receive further instructions from you. As a retail distributor ASO relies upon our many valued suppliers to help maintain our inventory levels. Situations do arise that are beyond our control that can cause backorders delays to you our valued customer. ASO will try hard to communicate with you about such situations.

Oversize or Overweight Items
Items that are OVERSIZE OR OVERWEIGHT may be subject to additional Freight charges that are shown on your order after checkout. An estimate of the Oversize/Overweight charges will be calculated during checkout. This is only an initial estimate and charges may vary and change based on your order and actual freight charges when shipped. These are the factors that may change your freight charge:
1.) Shipping destination and point of origin of shipment.
2.) Dimensions and total Weight of the oversize shipment.
3.) Certain logistics involved with the shipment such as; residential address vs. commercial address, loading dock facilities, number of steps, etc.
4.) Transport method and speed required (UPS Ground, common carrier truck, UPS Air, etc. (Some oversize items are excluded from Expedited Shipping options.)
You will be contacted via email or phone with the added freight charge only if the actual freight charges are more than twice (2 times) the initial estimate you will see at checkout. In that case your approval will be required prior to processing of the order. If the additional actual freight charge is less than 2 times your initial estimate from checkout the order total will be updated and you will be charged for the actual recalculated freight. Please note that it may take up to approximately 30 days to have the additional freight charges added to your order before you would see an additional charge to your credit card. **
**NOTE: We reserve the right to add oversize/overweight freight charges to items which may not be noted as such (by non-intentional omission), but are indeed oversized or overweight. Shipments of oversize/overweight products may be cost prohibitive, and the shipping method may be limited to ground shipping only.
Hazardous Items
UPS requires that all flammable products be shipped and insured differently than other products, therefore, an additional $20 is added to each order containing flammable items.
Minimum Item Quantities
Some items must be ordered in minimum quantities. Minimum quantity items will be incremented by the minimum amount. For example, if the minimum quantity is 5, you must order at least 5 items. If you want to order more than 5 items the next amount must be 10, then 15, 20, and so on. The calculations will be done automatically for you.
Free Shipping Offer
ASO offers Free ground shipping at various times based on certain order total dollar values. These offers do not apply to Oversize/Overweight, Hazardous, or Expedited items and is available only to locations in the contiguous United State.(lower 48 states). We reserve the right exclude some items from free shipping entirely, and they won't add to the totals required to meet the threshold for free shipping offers.
Standard Shipping
ASO will choose the most cost effective shipping method. Service would usually be U.P.S. Ground. Common Carrier Truck Lines may be used with Oversize Shipments. (Local delivery options apply to Twin Cites Metro Area)
Expedited Air Shipments** - If you have selected Air Shipping for an order this does not necessarily mean your order will ship out the day it is submitted. There is still a 1 to 4 day processing time for all orders (weekends excluded) so you will need to contact us by email or phone if you need a time specific delivery to see if we can accommodate you. If you have selected to expedite an order for an item that is designated "Special Order" please note that "Special Order" items are not readily available, and may take up to 30 days to ship out. You may want to change your shipping method for that order.
Next Day Service
ASO uses regular UPS Next Day Air Service for this selection. Your final Freight charge amount may be higher than that shown at checkout. Charges shown at checkout for this service are only an estimate of the actual charges.*
Second Day Service
ASO uses regular UPS 2nd Day Air Service for this selection. Your final Freight charge amount may be higher than that shown at checkout. Charges shown at checkout for this service are only an estimate of the actual charges.*
Third Day Service
ASO uses regular UPS 3rd Day Air Service for this selection. Your final Freight charge amount may be higher than that shown at checkout. Charges shown at checkout for this service are only an estimate of the actual charges.*
